Assessment
It is an important part of our walking philosophy that participants
should feel comfortable throughout their day. To help achieve
this we will prepare an individual confidential assessment for
all participants and potential participants covering fitness
levels, health (Dietary ,
medication etc).
The assessment is used by us to enable participants to be grouped
in similar levels of walking abilites.
Design of the Walk
From the assessment information we will design your walk to suit
the walking ability
levels of participants.
The design of your walk is the crucial factor in determining the
success of your day.
Your walk should have interest and excitement, provide pleasure
and be memorable.
Your walk should provide a challenge and a sense of satisfaction
on completion.
Participants with different walking ability levels may initially
start off on the same walk. Some participants might be guided on
separate routes for part of the walk.
For instance, some might climb and descend a hill, whilst others might traverse
around.
Our experience and knowledge of the capabilities of different walking ability
levels combined with detailed knowledge of the routes and types of walks in
the area are
employed to choose and design a great walk for you.
Equipment
For an enjoyable and safe day out participants must have the appropriate
equipment. (Boots, socks, gaiters, base layers, hat gloves waterproofs,
rucksack, trekking sticks.)
We will give advice on suitable equipment which may be purchased
or hired.
Briefing
We will hold a briefing session before the walk with your participants
covering the detailed walking route, transport , accommodation
( if required) and a check on equipment.
Transport will be provided from your base.
Accommodation and food
Where required we will be able to use our detailed knowledge to find you food
and accommodation near to the walking location matching your quality and
cost requirements.
On Your Walk
Supervision throughout the walk. The leader will be skilled at setting the
pace to make the walk comfortable but challenging for all participants.
It is important to the success of your day that participants walk in a non
competitive, friendly and relaxed manner giving opportunity to talk and bond
with fellow participants.
There may be an opportunity for participants to assist with basic navigation
and
route finding requirements.
At the end of the walk participants should feel individually relaxed and happy.
As well, they should feel relaxed and comfortable with their fellow participants.
This helps to create a team spirit and provide feelings of bonding from the
shared walk experience.
Your leader will carry a group shelter, first aid kit and will make final decisions
on the route depending upon weather and individual circumstances.
Debriefing
After the walk a debriefing session may be held at your base .
This provides a useful opportunity for comments from participants, evaluation
on the success of the day, and discussion on the format of your next corporate
walk .
